DID YOU KNOW?
Over a century ago, Wilmington NC was one of the South's most progressive Black-majority cities. During the 1898 Massacre, at least 60 Black men were hunt down and killed by white supremacist soldiers and police. The prime target was Wilmington, where black men served as councilmen, magistrates, and police officers in a city with thriving black middle class and some 65 black doctors, lawyers and educators.
